In the last week Disney has released two different trailers for the Image Movers Digital production of Mars Needs Moms. Certainly it's no coincidence that the trailers are geared towards two completely different groups. Because the film at it's core a story of parent and child contention, It isn't really a surprise that one trailer is more targeted towards parents and the other is absolutely geared towards kids.
The first is a more traditional theatrical trailer that is accompanied by the films score and has a pretty straight take on the film.
This ad, aimed at anyone under age 11, is unfortunately accompanied by an absolutely irritating Hip-hop song with an autotune chorus of "Mars Needs Moms." The meat of the trailer doesn't differ much from the other one, however it does certainly play up more of the kid friendly humor.
Official Film Synopsis -
Take out the trash, eat your broccoli -- who needs moms, anyway? In "Mars Needs Moms" nine-year-old Milo finds out just how much he needs his mom (Joan Cusack) when she's nabbed by Martians who plan to steal her mom-ness for their own young. Milo embarks on a quest to save his mom -- a wild adventure that involves stowing away on a spaceship, navigating an elaborate, multi-level planet and taking on the alien nation and their leader. With the help of a tech-savvy, underground earthman named Gribble (Dan Fogler) and a rebel Martian girl called Ki (Elisabeth Harnois), Milo just might find his way back to his mom -- in more ways than one.
