Disney Kills Kosinski's Graphic Novel Adaptation. Does This Spell 'Oblivion' For TRON 3?

Yesterday Disney announced that it will not be moving forward with plans to make a motion picture adaptation of director Joseph Kosinski's(TRON Legacy) upcoming graphic novel entitled Oblivion. Disney and Kosinski struck a deal to develop the film last August, when Disney was still expecting TRON Legacy to be a winter mega-hit. The film didn't bomb but it certainly didn't do the kind of box office numbers that Disney had so expected. The biggest question for TRON fans is, what does this mean for TRON 3? The answer is unfortunately very clouded. While Disney opting out of Oblivion has no direct connection with the performance of TRON Legacy, it is an indication that they have their doubts about the director. Which honestly does not put the future of the TRON-i-verse in a positive light. However it doesn't mean that it's totally doomed. While you might think that such a move would mean an end to Kosinski's time at the Mouse House, Disney still seems willing to move forward with the other Kosinski project in development. The updated reboot of the Disney Sci-Fi classic The Black Hole.
