Disney Releases First Clip From 'John Carter'

With only a few weeks left before the release of John Carter, the films marketing machine is churning out all kinds of great stuff. Early in the week we shared with you a short featurette that showcased the historical and cultural importance of the Edgar Rice Burroughs novels. Now, Disney has released the first full clip from the film. In this scene we see that John Carter and Dejah Thoris are suddenly in mortal peril. A massive army of Tharks is in pursuit, but the mysterious Matai Shang(Mark Strong) is calling the all the shots. Definitely a lot more to come before the films March 9th release.

In addition to the clip Disney also released the final domestic theatrical poster for the film. This image is pretty much just a sexier version of the Japanese poster that was released a couple weeks ago. Finally, Disney drops the style a bit and goes for straight out Sci-Fi imagery. Definitely a poster we would love to hang in the DisFanReview offices.

From Academy Award®--winning filmmaker Andrew Stanton comes "John Carter"—a sweeping action-adventure set on the mysterious and exotic planet of Barsoom (Mars). "John Carter" is based on a classic novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs, whose highly imaginative adventures served as inspiration for many filmmakers, both past and present. The film tells the story of war-weary, former military captain John Carter (Taylor Kitsch), who is inexplicably transported to Mars where he becomes reluctantly embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions amongst the inhabitants of the planet, including Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe) and the captivating Princess Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins).
