Over the past two weeks we have presented a collection of fan Films, created with care and love by Star Wars fans who want create their own part of George Lucas' beloved Galaxy, that happens to be far, far away. This week is quite different, we present to you the greatest 'fan edit' of any film ever made. What is a fan edit? Well it is the practice of some fans to re-edit their favorite film the way they believe it should have been done. But, Adywan's STAR WARS REVISITED is so much more than a 'fan edit.' Using the 2004 DVD release of Star Wars: Special Edition as his base, Adywan has gone through the entire film and adjusted color quality, Sound quality and other technical issues. Most importantly he has completely re-imagined and recreated some major effect shots. Adding more ships to critical battle sequences, updating the lightsaber effects, and overall creating a much richer and involving galaxy.
The sheer amount of work that went into this 'fan edit' is really mind blowing. Adywan also re-edited key sequences like the lightsaber battle between Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi. The tempo and pace of the duel have been sped up a bit so that it better resembles the lightsaber duels that appeared in the prequels. Which in the end is the motivating factor behind Adywans entire "Revisited" project. Adywan has attempted to update the original trilogy in a way that makes these films blend in better with the prequels if you watch all six films in order. I believe he has succeeded in an amazing way.
Next up for Adywan is "The Empire Strikes Back Revisited." The project was actually supposed to be completed in May for the 30th anniversary of the films release. Unfortunately it was not ready. He is still hard at work on it and expects the next chapter in the Star Wars Revisited Saga to be completed by the end of the year.
Now, some people actually hate these. I can't imagine why. To me this is how I remember Star Wars from my childhood. Huge, Epic, way beyond what my youthful imagination could come up with. Adywan remembers what it was like to see Star Wars for the first time. As time has progressed and we got older we were able to see the cracks, problems, and issues in the original films. Adywan has taken a magic wand and re-created the wonder of Star Wars that you remember from your youth.
