Often derided as "retro" or "so 1950's" by critics, and honestly many people who have a heavy Walt Disney World bias, Disneyland is indeed a grand old lady. For well over a half century Walt Disney's monument to imagination, is not only still standing, She is thriving. Intended as a destination where families could laugh, play and imagine together, millions of children have grown up with Disneyland. The first children to visit Disneyland back in 1955 have shared the magic of Disneyland with their children and their grandchildren.
Through the years attractions have come and gone, technology has progressed and helped to enhance the magic in way's that Walt never could have imagined. Facades have been torn down and re-fabricated in breathtaking and imaginative ways. Regardless of the changes, One fact is still true today as it was when Disneyland first opened 20,075 days ago. The Magic is still there, and families still flock to find it. The children inside those grandparents get to see the excitement and wonder in their grandchildren's faces and for a short time, we are all 8 years old again. That is the gift that Walt shared with all mankind when he built "The Happiest Place On Earth." The gift of eternal youth, even if that gift only seems to last inside Disneyland's gates.
