Disney's French Raiponce Trailers Give A Better Look At Tangled

First of all, Raiponce is Rapunzel in French, which is what Tangled was originally titled before some marketing guy in Burbank decided that "Rapunzel" wouldn't draw in the teenage boy crowd, but apparently the name "Tangled" will. Anyway, not only are the titles different but so is the way they are marketing the film...Which in and of it self isn't strange because Disney films are consistently marketed different ways in different parts of the world.

What is strange(to me, anyway), Is the WHY. Why is it that the French and North American trailers have mostly the same content but, certain footage appears in the American Version that doesn't in the French, and vice versa? It makes you wonder what real impact a film's title or minuscule bits of film have to do with the public's desire to see any given film. Seriously, are these mere seconds of footage so entirely pivotal that they will be the sole reason that someone decides to see Tangled...or Raiponce, or Rapunzel... Or what ever it's called? Anyway, the film opens in North American theaters Nov. 24th and French Cinema's Dec. 1st.

Johnny Depp Shocks School Students With Surprise Appearance As Jack Sparrow

I have to believe that when 9 year old Beatrice Delap wrote a short letter to actor Johnny Depp, a parent or teacher must have told her that it was unlikely that she would ever get a response. I remember my mother giving me that same warning the first time I wrote a fan letter. I, as a father, have given that same warning to my children. Of course, if someone did give Beatrice that same warning, she now has every right to tell that person to go pound sand. Because, last Wednesday during an assembly at Meridian Primary School in London, Beatrice's school. Johnny Depp strode into the building as Captain Jack Sparrow. He addressed the excited school and read aloud the letter that Beatrice had written and called her up to the stage and gave her a big hug. Depp has actually made this something of a habit.

A year or so ago he dropped into a London Children's Hospital as Jack Sparrow, unannounced. He has also made surprise appearances as the character at a couple fan conventions including last years D23 Expo. His appearance at the school wasn't as out of the blue as you might think. He is currently shooting Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides at the nearby Old Naval College. The film hits theaters on May 20, 2011.

Get An Exclusive Halloween Iron-On When You Spend $25 at StarWars.com

Lucasfilm artist Katie Cook has created these "adorkable" iron-on's that can be had at StarWars.com through Halloween. The catch is, you have to buy $25 worth of stuff, first. Thats right one of the four images will be packed with your order. What is cooler, is that you can pick which one you want. What isn't clear is weather or not you get all four with the purchase of $100 or more...?
