Lets be honest. Once a studio has a blockbuster, moneymaker of a film which also happens to be the most critically acclaimed film of the year and happens to be in contention for the Academy Award for Best Picture, Their natural impulse would be to take that success and capitalize on it. Right? Well, there is one small problem... The film in question is the third film in a trilogy and the creative team swore to the fans that said film would be the last in the saga. How then do they capitalize on this monumental success without completely selling out their credibility? Simple, they take these beloved characters from the film and put them in a series of shorts, that will be released as theater lead-ins to boost ticket sales to their newest releases...
Now, If we were talking about any other franchise, the above facts would suggest that these short cartoons would be of lesser quality. A quick effort to draw in the cash. Yet, with Pixar and Toy Story, the quality of animation and storytelling have always been the most important in the creative process.Weather Pixar is producing a feature or a short, those two elements have always been paramount to their success and surely Toy Story Toons will be no exception.
