New Cars 2 Spot Debuts During NASCAR's Daytona 500

As if to prove that the release of Disney/Pixars Cars 2 is all about the money to made from the marketing... The first ad for the film that contains new footage and reveals a little more about the story was aired during the biggest race of the NASCAR season, the Daytona 500. It makes total sense. 75 million Americans consider themselves NASCAR fans, Thats nearly 1/3 the population of the United States. However, Many of those 75 million have young boys that will be playing with their Hot Wheels, Matchbox, or Cars brand toy cars on the floor while Mom and Dad watch the race... THAT is who this commercial is aimed at. It is those little boys that saw this ad and just about freaked! For instance: My son, who is nine couldn't shut up about the next Harry Potter film. However, After he saw this trailer he became very excited, pulled out all of his toy cars and subjected his three female siblings to endless repeat viewings of the original Cars film. The kid in me wants to get lost in the world of Cars 2 when it's theaters on June 24th, unfortunately, the adult in me see's a TV ad for a movie that feels like a thinly veiled toy commercial.
