Today we got a first look at the Russian trailer for the upcoming MARVEL films production of X-Men: First Class. There is so much more beautiful footage to behold in this version. Why, you might ask? Well, we haven't been able to have the dialog translated, but we are betting since the Cuban Missile Crisis plays a huge part in the film it was probably necessary to present the entire story from a different point of view. You see, in October of 1962 the world was brought to the brink of nuclear war when the Soviet Union attempted to place Nuclear missiles inside Cuba, which lead to a thirteen day standoff that resulted in the removal of those weapons from the tiny Communist island.
You will notice that the most glaring difference between these two trailers is that the North American version has the dominating voice over of John F. Kennedy, the American President during the Cuban Missile Crisis. That event has an entirely different meaning for Americans than it would for residents of the former Soviet Union. Obviously since they are trying to sell a movie, MARVEL & company want to make sure that the Russians feel in no way alienated by the storyline, at least not until they are in a theater seat that they have already paid for.
