When Sony first announced that they were rebooting the Spiderman franchise and completely changing the direction, I like so many others thought it was a total mistake. Then the set pictures began to pop up every where. It was like there was zero security on set. However, the buzz was mostly good but many fans still had their doubts. Then the teaser trailer hit.
I was stunned. The tone of the film was darker. there was real mystery and there were elements, that were somewhat unsettling. However that didn't put me off, it made me more intrigued...And then the end of the trailer... What a contrast from the Sam Raimi films. Instead of following a CGI Spiderman through the New York city scape... Make the audience Spiderman. The last 20 seconds of the teaser trailer sold me on this film. I will be there opening day to see it.
I really didn't need anything else to get me excited for it. Then there was this very impressive incident at the Amazing Spiderman panel at the San Diego Comic Con's world famous Hall H on Friday. This crazy fan step up to the mic in a kids Spiderman outfit and turns out to be none other than the new incarnation of Peter Parker himself, Andrew Garfield. What erupts from him afterwards is the kind of nervous passion and excitement that only comes from a true fan. In one solid gold Comic Con moment Andrew Garfield has made these legions of Spiderman fans say "Tobey Mc..who?"
