Star Wars has a troubling history of introducing some of the coolest villains ever, and completely under utilizing them. The first example of this was Boba Fett in Empire Strikes Back who then is killed off in Return Of The Jedi in a completely lame way. The most obvious example is that of Darth Maul in Star Wars Episode I. He was teased as a powerful new villain in the series, He had a couple cool lightsabre battles and then he gets cut in half at the end of the film. A great build up... to nothing.
Now we learn that Star Wars creator and Clone Wars supervising Director Dave Filloni plan to bring the defeated Sith Lord back from the dead. However, this isn't the first time that Maul has been resurrected. in 2007 he was brought back in the comic book series STAR WARS Visionaries, where Maul now hunts Obi-Wan Kenobi with the help of cybernetic legs that look a lot like those of General Grievous. In that story Darth Maul attacks a toddler age Luke Skywalker and his uncle Owen Lars in order to bring Kenobi out of hiding.
Will the Clone Wars version of Maul resemble the Visionaries version? Highly likely. In fact, if you take a good look at the above video, you see that Maul seems to have the same crown like set of horns on his head as he did in the comic book. What ever Maul now looks like, Star Wars fans will tune in by the thousands just to get a glimpse and the Sith Lord that apparently, is more than half the man he used to be.
