As we told you last week, the media blitz has begun for John Carter. We have already seen a whole slew of new images from the film and we are anxiously awaiting the new theatrical trailer for the film. In fact, our sources tell us that the release date for the trailer has actually been moved up! The trailer was originally set to debut on December 1st but has been pushed forward by a day and will be released tomorrow, November 30th. To whet your appetite, Disney has released this all new theatrical poster that answers a question that had been on our minds for a very long time.
We had wondered HOW Disney intended to communicate the sci-fi nature of the film when they removed all mention of Mars from the title. Strangely, this poster hearkens back to old sci-fi soft cover novels of the 60's and 70's. With the bizarre dominance of dayglow orange, and the imposing figure of actor Taylor Kitsch's John Carter flanked by the alien Tharks, this poster more than communicates the sci-fi nature of the film. If all these elements were not enough, the all new tagline is a tantalizing bit of marketing that is sure to intrigue movie-goers who are still unaware of this upcoming sci-fi epic.

Plot Summary - From Academy Award-winning filmmaker Andrew Stanton comes John Carter–a sweeping action-adventure set on the mysterious and exotic planet of Barsoom (Mars). John Carter is based on a classic novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs, whose highly imaginative adventures served as inspiration for many filmmakers, both past and present. The film tells the story of war-weary, former military captain John Carter (Taylor Kitsch), who is inexplicably transported to Mars where he becomes reluctantly embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions amongst the inhabitants of the planet, including Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe) and the captivating Princess Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins). In a world on the brink of collapse, Carter rediscovers his humanity when he realizes that the survival of Barsoom and its people rests in his hands.
