REVIEW Star Wars:Clone Wars "Escape From Kadavo"

Finally, after a holiday hiatus, Star Wars: The Clone Wars has returned to Cartoon network! Our story picks up right where the last episode, Slaves of the Republic, left off. Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi is beginning to understand the desperation and humiliation of being a slave as his Zygerrian slave masters do their very best to break his spirit. As a Zygerrian begins to mercilessly whip the Togrutan Governor, Obi-Wan tells the slaver to stop.

To which the Zygerrian replies, "I do not take orders from slaves! BEG!" and the broken Jedi has no choice but to comply. He begs for the savage beating to stop. When it finally ends and the Zygerrians leave Kenobi, the Governor, and Captain Rex to themselves. Obi-Wan rushes to help the beaten Governor but the proud Togrutan pushes him away "You Jedi only make things worse!"

Meanwhile, Count Dooku's Solar Sail ship is blasting towards Zygerria. As his ship slips into orbit, the Count is speaking via hologram with Darth Sidious. Sidious reminds his apprentice that Sith Empires have long been built on the backs of slaves and for them to succeed in their grand plan, they will need millions! Sidious it seems is not pleased with the Zygerrian Queen and wants her straightened out. As Count Dooku's ship lands we see Anakin and the Zygerrian queen accompanied by her personal guards, strolling through the palace.

She is still playing with her newest toy. As one of her advisers informs her of Dooku's unexpected arrival, she playfully begs Anakin not to run away while she is gone. In his disgust, Anakin grabs his lightsaber and shoves the unignited blade side towards the sneering queens face. The Queen laughs at her new pet and makes her way towards the waiting Sith Lord.

As she leaves, the Queens guards begin to mercilessly taunt and provoke the Jedi. Unfortunately for them, R2-D2 sneaks up behind them which gives Anakin just the right distraction to jump over the railing, presumably to lower levels below. Enraged, One of the guards orders the other to go below and find him. As the other guard leaves Anakin appears back on the ledge and throws the lone Zygerrian over the ledge, to his death.

Anakin and R2D2 rush to free Ahsoka, The Zygerrian Queen meets with the villainous Count Dooku. Dooku wants Skywalker and Kenobi dead. The Queen has a far more sadistic plan. She wants to seduce her pet Skywalker and break the will of Obi-Wan Kenobi. She goes into great detail about Obi-Wan Kenobi's fading confidence and the breaking of his spirit , which is brilliantly inter cut with images of Kenobi's ordeal on Kadavo. She attempts to prove to Dooku that the Zygerrians can tame even the Jedi. Though intrigued, Dooku insists that the Jedi must die, his agenda is not to tame the Jedi, but to eradicate them.

Enraged, the Queen flatly refuses to kill Skywalker. It is then that she finds that she is merely a slave. Dooku force chokes the Queen, nearly to death. Anakin rushes into the Throne Room as she falls to the floor. He signals to Ahsoka and defends himself against Dooku with a Zygerrian light-whip, the weapon is hardly a match. As he succumbs to force lightening, Anakin is granted a temporary reprieve by advancing Zygerrian guards.

Dooku tells the guards that Anakin has murdered the Queen. Skywalker scoops up the Queen and quickly avoids blaster fire as he crashes through a massive window to a waiting Zygerrian slave ship piloted by Ahsoka Tano. Anakin lays the Queen to rest on the floor as she dies, she tells Anakin that she truly was a slave... Just as he is. Anakin's facial expression in response to the Queens demise is perplexing to say the least.

As Anakin, Ahsoka, and R2-D2 head towards the mining planet of Kadavo Kenobi and Captain Rex are brought before the Zygerrian Keeper. He informs them, that someone very special wants to speak with them. Dooku stands before them via hologram and informs them that they are about to be executed. Just then, Anakin and crew land on the station... and their ship is immediately destroyed. The trio make it to a small alcove but are receiving blaster fire from every direction. Can our hero's save Kenobi, Rex and the Togrutan slaves? Will the Zygerrians finally get the butt whooping they so greatly deserve?

Escape From Kadavo is a great episode. Unfortunately it was hindered by a three week hiatus. It just feels thrown together in places. Once the action actually moves to Kadavo, situations and events seem to happen so quickly that some of the details seem completely lost. Over all, the entire second half of the episode felt rushed, as if to say... "Hey, we have Mandalorian's, Bounty Hunters and Darth Maul to get to this season...so lets wrap this up."
