Well, this years big game was certainly more exciting than the last three, but what was even more exciting was some of the wickedly entertaining advertising on display, before, during and after the game. Now we have a small collection of some of the best spots from the big game, that Disney fans will especially love.
While Disney's commercials for John Carter and The Avengers where highly touted and even more highly anticipated by fans, the Super Bowl was also a chance for Star Wars fans to see something new. Granted the only new thing in the ad is Lucasfilm's new logo, but the trailer for Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace 3D also showcased a very interesting strategy for marketing the film... Get people excited for the least exciting Star Wars film, by showing them high definition clips of all the other Star Wars movies. Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace 3D returns to theaters on February 10th.
While every trailer and TV spot for Disney's John Carter has felt really flat & restrained, I had high hopes for this Super Bowl spot. While I liked what I saw when the ad first aired during the big game, I still had that feeling of wanting to know more, and see more of this film. However, when I finally saw this extended cut of the ad I was a much happier guy. This finally has me as excited as I should be about a film we think is likely to be an unexpected spring-time juggernaut for Disney. John Carter hits theaters March 9th.
We knew the all new Avengers spot was going to be good. We simply had no idead HOW good it was going to be. I mean how could it be better? THOR rides on the wing of a Quinjet, Iron Man dog-fighting alien's, The entire team 'assembles' on a destroyed city street, and HULK SMASHES EVERYTHING!!! There is really nothing re-hased in this spot, most of this looks to be all new footage. And it is GLORIOUSLY AWESOME. Everything a comic book fan could want is going to be in this movie. The calendar cannot get to May 4th fast enough.
