First Images Of 'Lone Ranger' Set In New Mexico

Well, at least now we have photographic proof that miracles do happen. After all, the film was declared dead in August, and most everyone believed that it was. This seemed to be confirmed later that month when the film was not mentioned at all during the Walt Disney Studio's presentation at the D23 Expo in Anaheim.

Yet, after a lot of drama about the films budget and consternation over New Mexico's 'less than it used to be' Film incentive program, Disney and producer Jerry Bruckheimer are finally bringing The Lone Ranger to life. Stars Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp have already been spotted in town and the cameras are set to begin rolling in mere days. HALLALUEJAH!

A couple weeks ago we wre tipped off to the fact that Disney was building 'something' in the high desert just northwest of Albuquerque, just a few miles east of the Rio Puerco. In the above photograph, Albuquerque is obscured by the ridge and rests in the valley below the Sandia mountains that are visible in the background.

After trying in vain to get near what our sources told us was an 'old western town' that was being constructed for The Lone Ranger, we discovered that the local CBS television affiliate had already heard about the set as well. In this news segment, reporter Bob Brown suggests that there is a possibility that the set could be for another film, but that isn't true. Our sources have confirmed that this set is definitely one of several sets in New Mexico for The Lone Ranger
