With three successful MARVEL films under his belt, the Sherlock Holmes films, and numerous other successful projects over the last few years... Robert Downey Jr. seems like he is some sort of SUPERHERO!
Well, we can file this under "PROOF THAT ROBERT DOWNEY JR. ISN'T INDESTRUCTIBLE." The man who has, like the phoenix risen to great power and fame in Hollywood after years of drug addiction, destructive behavior, and even incarceration, is actually human.
According to an official statement from Disney, Downey Jr. suffered an ankle injury during filming for the Shane Black directed film. Though this is the third Iron Man fil it is in fact the fourth time Downey has played the dual role of Tony Stark/Iron Man.
DISNEY's OFFICIAL STATEMENT - Robert Downey Jr. sustained an ankle injury on the set of Iron Man 3 in Wilmington, North Carolina while performing a stunt. There will be a short delay in the production schedule while he recuperates.
The injury seems serious enough to mobilize a small army of Disney PR folks to whip up a statement, as well as create a short delay the film's production schedule. However, the injury does not seem serious enough to alter the films release date which is slated for May 13th 2013.
