Very First Teaser Trailer For 20th CENTURY FOX's "FANTASTIC FOUR" Reboot Hits The Internet

In "Nerd Circles" there probably isn't another film property out there that is more controversial than 20th Century Fox's upcoming FANTASTIC FOUR reboot. The how and why of that circumstance isn't very hard to understand. The studio's previous two FF films were met with bitterly cold reactions from audiences and critics alike. 

Just like the X-Men films, the FANTASTIC FOUR are MARVEL comics characters but they are not MARVEL Studio's films. FOX acquired the rights to those characters well before Disney bought MARVEL comics and the House Of Mouse has been passionately seeking to reacquire those film rights ever since. 

FOX however, seems to have no intention of relinquishing them, and like SONY with the Spider-Man films, have opted to reboot and rework the characters in the hopes of creating franchise that could generate mega-bucks for the studio. Sony made that bet with Spider-Man, and it hasn't really worked out for them. Amazing Spider-Man 1 & 2 while financially successful were not the record breaking juggernauts that would have justified a broader franchise for SONY. Rumors seem to indicate that SONY is working a deal with Disney/MARVEL to somehow split the rights and in some way salvage the studio's financial investment.

That being the case, you have to believe that the folks at MARVEL are hoping that this new FANTASTIC FOUR film is a box office flop. It will give Disney a lot more room to negotiate but it would also mean that the FF characters would have an unfortunately damage reputation in the public consciousness. 

With all of this baggage and extra weight, we now have the first teaser trailer for the all new FANTASTIC FOUR, and it doesn't look bad. Instead of basing the film on classic versions of the characters, this film is based on the more gritty and realistic ULTIMATE UNIVERSE from Marvel comics which is what a majority of the MARVEL STUDIO's films have been based on. However, clocking in at just under 1 minute and 30 seconds there isn't enough in the teaser trailer to base an opinion on. Does it look better that FOX's previous FANTASTIC FOUR attempts? Yes, but if we are being honest, that isn't really saying much. FANTASTIC FOUR will be in theaters on August 7th.
