Ryan Gosling In Talks To Star In Guillermo Del Toro's HAUNTED MANSION Reboot

Entertainment industry publication Variety posted today that actor Ryan Gosling is currently in negotiations to star in an all new reboot of Disney's HAUNTED MANSION film franchise. For many readers this may seem like a story that is completely out of the blue, but it's actually a story of a film that has been five years in the making.

Back in July of 2010, director Guillermo Del Toro(Hellboy,Pacific Rim) announced at San Diego Comic Con that he was developing an all new HAUNTED MANSION film for Disney. This was no small plan, Del Toro's concept is actually pretty intricate and his connection to the classic Disney attraction is pretty deep. So back then fans were pretty excited about the prospect.

However, fast forward four and a half years and nothing, absolutely nothing has even been hinted about the fate of this project. Del Toro went on to make Pacific Rim and has even gone on to produce a few other projects. So, yesterday the idea of a new HAUNTED MANSION film was pretty much a dead prospect. Today it's seemingly, and appropriately, clawed it's way out of the grave.

The choice of Gosling to star in the film is surprising, but it actually fits right in with Del Toro's early pitch for the film. Gosling who has a rather serious acting resume might be perfect for a fun, but scary adventure that definitely isn't a comedy. A film that is certainly for the entirely family but a film that takes things that are very scary and approaches them from a whimsical point of view. We will be watching this story with great anticipation.
