We were lucky enough to stumble upon this truly fine short film. Far more than just a tour through the abandoned Six Flags New Orleans. It is another sad epilogue in the tragic saga of Hurricane Katrina. The park closed on August 27th 2005 in preparation for the storm, and never re-opened. For over six years the park has sat silently in an ever worsening state of decay. Film maker Teddy Smith tenderly captures the haunting atmosphere of a place designed for family fun that is now a broken symbol of an entire regions heartache. Through the broken glass and graffiti you can almost smell the popcorn and hear the children laughing. The sun scorched and wind battered rides look as if they are anxiously waiting for park guests...that will never come. A truly powerful piece of film making that chronicles a unique moment in time when this theme park was no longer a theme park, but a ghostly testament to a New Orleans that once was.
