Encore To Debut New ILM Documentary

You have to remember that motion picture special effects as we know them, were practically invented in 1976. When George Lucas began production on the original Star Wars film, he had no idea how to create the visual effects needed to bring his 'Galaxy, Far, Far Away' to life. And so...Industrial Light And Magic was born. Originally created to bring those early special effects to life, ILM has far surpassed it's original reason for existence. In the last 35 years ILM has advanced the technology of motion Picture effects to a point that no one could have ever predicted, and created some of the most iconic imagery in motion picture history.
On November 12th cable network Encore will air their original documentary "ILM : Creating The Impossible" which chronicles the company's meteoric rise from a small model shop on the set of STAR WARS to the worlds authority on visual effects. An interesting note for Disney fans, the film is directed by Leslie Iwerks, Granddaughter of early Walt Disney partner and Mickey Mouse co-creator Ub Iwerks.
