Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, the fourth film in the series doesn't even set sail till May of next year. However, that doesn't seem to keep Disney from making big plans for the future of the franchise. HitFlix.com is reporting that Disney has begun quietly telling cast and crew to set aside a major block of time in the very near future so they can shoot "Pirates 5" and "Pirates 6." And just as was done for Dead Mans Chest and At Worlds End, they will be shooting the films back-to-back as one giant film, and then they'll release them as two separate films.
Now HitFlix does raise one significant snag in the plan. Johnny Depp is commited to film both Dark Shadows and The Lone Ranger(Where he will reunite with original Pirates director Gore Verbinski) in 2011. Which begs the question, when are they going to shoot them? Regardless, we now know that On Stranger Tides will not be Captain Jack Sparrows swan song. Thank goodness for that.
