'Park Starz' Vinylmation Series Breaks The Mold

Hard core Vinylmation fans have been on a virtual scavenger hunt over the past couple months. The good people over at Vinylmation.com have dropping a lot of hints about something called 'Project Z.' The hints included several GPS coordinates that are located inside Disney Parks around the world. Turns out, there was reason for that!

On Sunday the good folks at Disney revealed the all new 'Park Starz' Vinylmation series at Walt Disney Worlds annual Pin & Vinylmation trading event. This years event was themed after the 40th Anniversary of the Walt Disney World Resort and was entitle 'The Florida Project.' Which is what WDW was called way back in the late '60's before the resort had an official name.

Which was entirely fitting for the release of this very unique new Vinylmation series. These new collectible figures completely defy the previous held notion that Vinylmation HAD to be Mickey Mouse shaped. This new series is a set of 11 known figures with one mystery 'chaser figure' will be individually molded and themed after famous Disney Parks characters. The reveal included just four of the soon to be revealed eleven figure set, but the figures that were revealed are true Disney Parks classics. They include 'The Yeti' from Disneyland's Matterhorn, The giant squid from the 20,000 Leagues Submarine ride, Big Al from The Country Bears Jamboree, and the mascot of EPCOT's Imagination Pavilion... Figment!

Interesting details to note about this series; This is a blind series, which is to say at the time of purchase you do not know what figure you have. This series will not come in the customary cardboard box. Each figure will come in a collectible tin. Unfortunately, the unique size & shape of the figures coupled with the new packaging push the price tag of the series to a whopping $18.95. More of the series will be revealed at Vinylmation.com every Friday leading up to the series release in mid October.

UPDATE Sept. 16th 2011

Today the official Disney Vinylmation blog revealed two new figures from this much anticipated series. Above we have good clean look at the robot butler from the classic Horizons pavilion at EPCOT and the Ice Gator from Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park.
