On Super Bowl Sunday, the entire wold got a much better look at this summers most anticipated film, The Avengers. With over the top action, eye-popping visual effects, and Scarlett Johannson featured prominently, the all new commercial helped to create amazing buzz for MARVEL's upcoming super powered, superhero movie.
On that same day, MARVEL released the first chapter of their all new Avengers comic book tie-in, Prelude To Avengers. The 8 part series will tell the story of how all The Avengers and the agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. get to the events that will be depicted in the film. On Valentines day, Issue #2 will be released for the MARVEL Comics app and Comixology, for $.99 cents. Issues will then be released weekly up until the films release.

This first issue picks up at the end of Captain America: The First Avenger. As Captain fights his way through Hydra on board Red Skulls super plane barreling towards an icy crash. Flash forward 70 years and we see agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. dig wreckage out of the ice, but it's not Red Skulls plane or Captain America, which is exactly what Nick Fury and his crew are looking for. As they continue their recovery effort, Director Fury is ordered to shut down the operation and report to the World Security Council. Much to his frustration Fury does exactly that, and isn't happy at all with what they have to tell him.
Overall, the first issue is pretty solid reading. The story gets off to a good start and with Agent Coulson and Nick Fury taking center stage in this issue, they are brought to convincing life in these pages. One thing that really stood out was how good the dialogue was. I was absolutely struck at how Coulson and Fury's banter was very representative of how the characters are portrayed in previous MARVEL films. So far, Prelude To Avengers seems to be a really great beginning to the saga of The Avengers.
