The marketing campaign for John Carter has been oddly dormant for several months. It doesn't really help that the film has no major fast food tie-ins, and toys & collectibles in support of the film are nearly non-existent. However, since last Sunday's big Super Bowl ad, the film is getting some much needed buzz. JohnCarter has gone from the film no one was talking about to the film that everybody is talking about. Heck, the Monday morning after the Super Bowl, #JohnCarter was a trending topic on Twitter.com for most of the day.
Previous trailers and television ad's have largely been recycling the same footage. Now, with only four weeks until the films release, Disney is finally letting the footage fly. This new ad may be only 30 seconds long, but it is 30 seconds of the film that is completely new. It also helps that the new footage is epic and action packed!
Official Synopsis Of Disney's John Carter.
From Academy Award®--winning filmmaker Andrew Stanton comes "John Carter"—a sweeping action-adventure set on the mysterious and exotic planet of Barsoom (Mars). "John Carter" is based on a classic novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs, whose highly imaginative adventures served as inspiration for many filmmakers, both past and present. The film tells the story of war-weary, former military captain John Carter (Taylor Kitsch), who is inexplicably transported to Mars where he becomes reluctantly embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions amongst the inhabitants of the planet, including Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe) and the captivating Princess Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins). In a world on the brink of collapse, Carter rediscovers his humanity when he realizes that the survival of Barsoom and its people rests in his hands.
