With the 60th anniversary of Disneyland rapidly approaching, a lot of details about the Diamond Celebration and the resorts commemorative merchandise have been coming out. This week Disney Parks merchandising arm released a catalog containing all of the anniversary products.
While most of the products focus firmly on the fantasy,nostalgia and more animated facets of the the parks anniversary, one item managed to put Star Wars collectors in a tizzy. R2-D60. This carded 3 3/4 inch action figure is part of the Disney Parks "Droid Factory" series and was originally announced as being limited to an edition of only 6,000.
After a couple days of fan outrage, Michelle Harker, Disneyland Resort's Manager of Merchandise Marketing and Communication announced that the figure would not be limited after all so that fans might have equal access to this item. R2-D60 should be available at the STAR TRADERS store in Tomorrowland at Disneyland beginning in late May and is expected to retail for $12.95.
