This week we present a true classic from the 1950's television show "Walt Disney's Disneyland." In this episode we get to take an "Adventure In The magic Kingdom."
Most people know that I am something of Disneyland nut. I know that park back & forth. The history, the theming, and far more than any normal person should of what has changed over the years. In the month since my inaugural visit to Disney World in Florida in August, a lot of people have asked me which I thought was better. Disneyland or Magic Kingdom?
Most people are shocked when I tell them that, in my opinion, the two parks are in a strong tie. Aside from the obvious difference in size, Disneyland and Magic Kingdom are so much the same and yet very different. If you ask me though, whats really missing at Magic Kingdom is the very thing we are going to show you in this week's Video Madness. Walt Disney World, may have the man's name, but to be honest it seemed to lack his presence. Disneyland seems to exude the feeling that Walt Disney built it and walked in those streets. Disneyland has the aura of history, that while Magic Kingdom is getting up there in age she is nowhere near the grand old lady that is Disneyland.
Then there is the great sense of nostalgia. There is a great deal of literal and figurative American history that has been created at Disneyland. A land created in a bygone era that we will never see again. Some how Magic Kingdom simply doesn't seem to have that same historical weight.
