Jon Favreau To Direct Magic Kingdom Movie?

When Variety first reported that Disney was kicking around the idea of a Magic Kingdom movie, the entire project seemed like it was very, very early in the development process. The film is supposed to be a "hub" film where several Disney film franchise will be showcased in one film, ala the upcoming Avengers film, from Marvel. Co-ordinating all those films, and actors takes time and logistics, so we didn't expect any news on this at least until next year. Apparently things are moving much quicker than anticipated. Because according to Reuters the film already has a director. Not just any director, but the celebrated director of the Christmas classic Elf and the those two movies about some clown named Iron Man. Seriously though, The hiring of Jon Favreau to helm the Magic Kingdom goes a long way to quell fan fears that this might be a bad idea. This move seems to be another solid step in the right direction for Disney Studio Head Rich Ross, who has already locked up other powerhouse names into new Disney projects. David Fincher is developing an epic remake of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, and Guillermo Del Toro is developing a completely re-imagined Haunted Mansion film. All this and the news of a possible Enchanted Tiki Room film penned by Ahmet Zappa? Very interesting turn of events. -Admiral Duke
