In the last couple of years the Disneyland Resort has undergone some big changes. Disney invested in a billion dollar over haul in a few areas in both parks. New lands, remodels, new magical experiences... and now is the perfect time to go see them!
1.The California Adventure park had a massive face-lift on it's Sunshine Plaza. Now that the dust has settled, you'll find yourself stepping back into 1920's California on Buena Vista Street. A bronze Walt and Mickey Mouse greet you at Carthay Circle as you seemingly step back in time and see what Walt may have seen when he arrived to the Golden State back in the summer of 1923.
Check out the ragtime show put on near the fountain, look for your favorite Disney characters decked out in era appropriate clothing, take a ride on the Red Car Trolley which provides service from the Buena Vista St. to the Hollywood Tower of Terror, and stop in at the new shops carrying a new line of vintage inspired souvenirs and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit merchandise.
2. Though the Buena Vista St. area will be the first thing you see, the first thing you should consider is if you want to ride the new Car's Land Radiator Springs Racers. When the park opens you will find there are 3 lines; one for the Racers ride, one for it's fast pass line, and one for everyone else trying to go anywhere else. If you can, take advantage of the ride's single rider line. Groups will be broken up, but if you don't mind riding with strangers, you'll beat a very long line. This is now one our top 10 favorites. Walking to the ride through Radiator Springs, taking pictures with Lightning McQueen and Mater, stopping at Flo's for a snack; Cars Land makes you feel like you're in the movie.
3. Over at Disneyland you'll find a newly remodeled Fantasyland area where Carnation Plaza once was. Disney has beautifully created a "charming European fairy-tale village, a place where characters and stories from Disney animated features come to life." In Fantasy Faire you'll find the Royal Theater and Royal Hall. You'll be able to sit for a spell and enjoy a show about your favorite fairy tale stories in the open air theater. Across the courtyard you'll find the new Royal Hall. Step in line to meet and take pictures with three of your favorite Disney Princesses. Take some time to admire the magical details in the area.
4. Fantasyland Theater reopened this last May with Disney's exciting new show "Mickey and the Magical Map". Rapunzel, Flynn Rider, Tiana, Pocahontas, Mulan, Sebastian, and King Louis all join Mickey in this magical musical featuring classic songs, and an original number, “Journey to Imagination”, and loads of dancing. The show runs 5 times a day 7 days a week.
5. Our last must-do at the resort is visit "Iron Man Tech Presented by Stark Industries," inside Innoventions in Tomorrowland. After guests walk through a replica of Tony Stark's Hall of Armor, you can suit up virtually in the Mark 42 armor and give it a little test flight.
